Six Firm Attorneys Recognized Among the Best in the Nation

By Weisbart Springer Hayes

The firm is pleased to announce that name partners Geoffrey D. Weisbart, Julie Springer and Sherrard “Butch” Hayes have been named to the 2023 list of The Best Lawyers in America, the preeminent listing of the nation’s top attorneys.

Mr. Weisbart is also recognized as “Lawyer of the Year” for Central Texas for his work in representing individuals and organizations in Real Estate Litigation. In addition, Mr. Hayes is honored as “Lawyer of the Year” in the practice area of Labor-Law Management.

For the first time the firm has three young attorneys earning recognition on the list of “Best Lawyers – Ones to Watch”, awarded to those who have been practicing for less than 10 years or are under the age of 40. Those attorneys and their respective practice areas are:

  • Danielle Hatchitt – Labor and Employment Litigation
  • John Runde – Commercial Litigation
  • Mia A. Storm – Commercial Litigation

“It’s likely unprecedented for a boutique firm such as ours to have two partners earning ‘Lawyer of the Year’ as well as almost half of our young attorneys being honored by Best Lawyers,” says Ms. Springer. “It speaks to the hard work of the entire firm and the respect earned among our peers in the profession.”

Ms. Springer is honored in the area of Labor & Employment Litigation and Commercial Litigation. Ms. Springer is known for her experience in a broad range of complex employment matters and business-related disputes in federal and state courts, and regulatory agencies, throughout the country. In addition, Ms. Springer has developed extensive expertise in the area of Title IX and higher education. She recently obtained a defense verdict on behalf of a private university in a high-profile case involving alleged sexual assault after a month-long jury trial.  Ms. Springer is one of the few attorneys in the state who is Board Certified in both Labor & Employment Law and Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates.

Mr. Hayes is recognized in the areas of Employment Law-Management and Labor Law-Management, and has been named to the Best Lawyers list for the past 17 years.  He has successfully handled hundreds of high-stakes matters and has tried complex employment, intellectual property, and commercial/business related disputes in state and federal courts across the nation for the last 30 years. He is board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Labor and Employment law, and a former President of the Austin Federal Bar Association.

Mr. Weisbart is one of the state’s most respected courtroom advocates and has successfully represented an impressive roster of clients in matters involving substantial financial and business risks. He is honored this year in four practice areas: Commercial Litigation, Employment Law-Individuals, and Labor & Employment Litigation, in addition to Real Estate Litigation.

The annual Best Lawyers guide is based on a rigorous peer-review survey that includes confidential evaluations submitted by clients and other attorneys from across the nation. The full listing is available at http://www.bestlawyers.com.
