Mediation and Arbitration Fee Schedule
Full Day Mediations in Austin
Standard Fee – $2,500 per side
The mediation fee covers all preparation time, individual meetings or calls in advance of the mediation, the mediation session itself, the use of my office for mediation when available, scheduling and administration of the mediation, a working lunch, and appropriate follow-up telephone calls with counsel, if necessary.
For these purposes, a “side” is a party or group of parties represented by the same law firm or firms. Parties with different law firms are considered different sides. In cases with four or more sides, I am happy to consider a reduction from the standard per party rate.
A full day is 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Any time after 6 p.m. will be billed at an hourly rate of $675 to be divided equally between the parties.
Virtual Mediations via Zoom
Virtual mediations will be billed the same as mediations in Austin – $2,500 per side.
Mediations Outside Austin
$3,250 per side plus reasonable travel expenses to be divided equally between the parties.
Mediations beyond 100 miles from Austin generally require travel and an overnight stay. As a result, my fee per side is slightly higher for out-of-town mediations.
Half-Day Mediations
At the present time, I am only scheduling full day mediations.
Arbitration Rates
My arbitration rate is $675 per hour for hearing, study, and travel time, regardless of the number of parties. I will also bill for reasonable travel expenses associated with any arbitration. Unless agreed otherwise, this fee will be divided equally among the sides, and includes the use of our courtroom at WSH, including breakout rooms, when available. Where necessary, I will involve other attorneys in my office to assist in research and drafting of decisions. Those individuals will be billed between $425 and $550 per hour. An advance deposit based on the anticipated time required for the hearing and all pre-hearing and post-hearing activities is required.
