Firm Places Four Attorneys on 2021 Texas Rising Stars List

By Weisbart Springer Hayes

Four of the firm’s young attorneys have been named to the list of Texas Rising Stars for 2021, the largest number of honorees in the firm’s nine-year history.

This is the seventh year that firm partner Matt Wood has been recognized for his work in complex business disputes and high stakes appeals. He recently represented the Texas Chiropractic Association before the Texas Supreme Court, winning a favorable ruling in a dispute with the Texas Medical Association about the legal scope of practice for chiropractors statewide.

This is the fifth year for firm partner Mia Storm to earn this recognition for her work in a broad range of complex business litigation across the nation, including real estate disputes, municipal law issues, fiduciary litigation, partnership disputes, breach of contract matters, Title IX, intellectual property protection and a variety of employment matters.

For the sixth consecutive year, the firm’s Danielle Hatchitt has been named to the list, based on her work representing plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of complex business disputes. Her practice has involved litigation in real estate, municipal law issues, Title IX, partnership disputes, fiduciary litigation, breach of contract, intellectual property protection, breach of non-competition and non-solicitation agreements, and other general employment claims, including discrimination and harassment.

This year marks the first appearance on the list for the firm’s John Runde, who represents plaintiffs and defendants in a broad range of commercial litigation involving complex contract and fiduciary duty disputes, real estate disputes, non-compete and non-solicitation litigation, and a multitude of other employment matters. Before attending law school he served in the United States Marine Corps for six years and was deployed to Iraq in 2007-2008.

Texas Rising Stars honorees are selected by Thomson Reuters’ legal division, recognizing the state’s best lawyers under the age of 40 and those who have been practicing law for no more than 10 years. The honored attorneys are selected based on nominations from other lawyers across Texas and an extensive review by the publication’s editors. The complete 2021 Texas Rising Stars listing will appear in the April issues of Texas Monthly and Texas Rising Stars magazines.
